GROUP B - CLUBS

  1. Chelsea (England)
  2. Rosenborg (Norway)
  3. Schalke 04 (Germany)
  4. Valencia (Spain)

GAME WEEK 1 - 18th/19th September 2007

Fixtures / Results

18/09/2007 - Chelsea 1 - 1 Rosenborg
18/09/2007 - Schalke 04 0 - 1 Valencia

Match Roundup
Rosenborg's dream start to their 2007/2008 Champion's League campaign lasted for only 30 glorious minutes at Stamford Bridge until Andriy Shevchenko scored a rare goal to cancel out Miika Koppinen's opener for the Norwegians. Not the start Jose Mourinho or Roman Abramovich would have wanted for the big spending Blues from West London.

David Villa continued his impressive scoring form from last season with his first goal of the 2007/2008 Champion's League group stages and it was enough to see Valencia home 1-0 against a spirited German side in Schalke 04.

GAME WEEK 2 - 2nd/3rd October 2007

Fixtures / Results

03/10/2007 - Rosenborg 0 - 2 Schalke 04
03/10/2007 - Valencia 1 - 2 Chelsea

Match Roundup
The decidedly un-German sounding pair of Jermaine Jones and Kevin Kuranyi helped Schalke overcome the disappointment of their opening week defeat against Valencia as the Germans put Rosenborg to bed 2-0 in Trondheim.

David Villa again got Valencia off to a great start against Chelsea but goals from Joe Cole and Didier Drogba gave new Chelsea coach Avram Grant something to cheer about with three points in the Champion's League bag and a 2-1 away victory to their biggest group rivals.

GAME WEEK 3 - 23rd/24th October 2007

Fixtures / Results

24/10/2007 - Chelsea 2 - 0 Schalke 04
24/10/2007 - Rosenborg 2 - 0 Valencia

Match Roundup

Chelsea's resurgence under Avram Grant continues with another strong win over Schalke and, barring any major problems, they should now be in with a good shout of making it through at the half way stage.

The race for second place in Group B is hotting up however as Rosenborg's excellent home win over Valencia makes things increasingly tight between the Norwegians, Schalke and Valencia with three group games remaining.

GAME WEEK 4 - 6th/7th November 2007

Fixtures / Results

06/11/2007 - Schalke 04 0 - 0 Chelsea
06/11/2007 - Valencia 0 - 2 Rosenborg

Match Roundup

Chelsea and Schalke played out a 0-0 draw conspicuous only for the injury to Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech which will keep him out of at least a couple of important games in the Premiership.

Rosenborg's fantastic Champion's League campaign continued with ex-SPurs striker Steffen Iversen putting Valencia to the sword with two well taken goals which took his side to only a point behind Chelsea at the top of the group.

GAME WEEK 5 - 27th/28th November 2007

Fixtures / Results

28/11/2007 - Rosenborg 0 - 4 Chelsea
28/11/2007 - Valencia 0 - 0 Schalke 04

Match Roundup

Chelsea made sure of their place in the next round with a thumping away win against Rosenborg but the Norwegians retain second place in the group and can still be confident of joining the West Londoners in qualifying.

Valencia and Schalke 04 did themselves no favours with a scoreless draw and will now be up against it to catch Rosenborg for second spot.

GAME WEEK 6 - 11th/12th December 2007

Fixtures / Results

11/12/2007 - Chelsea 0 - 0 Valencia
11/12/2007 - Schalke 04 3 - 1 Rosenborg

Match Roundup

Chelsea finished off their group campaign with a boring 0 - 0 draw at home to Valencia who, not only saw their chances of qualification slip away, also finished up with the group wooden spoon as Schalke made home advantage count with a strong 3 - 1 victory over Rosenborg who now fall into the UEFA Cup.
