About PSV Eindhoven:

PSV Eindhoven were originally founded as a sports club in 1913 but since this humble beginning have succeeded in establishing themselves as one of the top teams in Holland and serious contenders in Europe. Since the club's inception, PSV have gained many domestic and European honours throughout the years and are well known for giving many now famous footballers their professional start in the game.

PSV along with Ajax and Feyenoord are considered as the top clubs competing in the Dutch League and all three of these clubs have achieved success in Europe and are well known for being bitter rivals.

As one of the major Dutch clubs PSV have excelled in domestic competitions such as the Eredivisie Championship and the Dutch Cup but their success in Europe is viewed by many as their most valuable achievement. In 1978 PSV competed strongly in the UEFA Cup reaching the final where they emerged victorious, beating Bastia by three goals to nil.

Again success in Europe beckoned as ten years later PSV, containing the likes of Ronald Koeman, reached the European Cup final against Benfica which they eventual won on penalties after a goal less draw.

In recent times PSV have become known as a club that have been used as a springboard by many players to further their careers in other European Leagues. Various players such as Ronaldo, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Kezman, Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy have used the club as a stage to showcase their talents only to move onto other European clubs.

Recently PSV have proven that they are still serious contenders lifting the 2006-07 Eredivisie title after a hard fought League battle with Ajax and AZ Alkmaar which was only decided in PSV’s favour on the final day of the season.
